Why You’re Seeing 404 Errors, Missing Applicants & Integration Breakdowns
Salesforce has rolled out a mandatory update called Enhanced Domains.
It may sound like just a URL change — but for many businesses, it has caused real operational issues.
We’ve seen organizations experience:
- 404 Page Not Found errors
- Applicants not appearing in Salesforce
- Jobs not getting posted
- Messaging failures through 3rd third-party tools
- API and webhook breakdowns
Let’s simplify what’s happening.
Examples of legacy formats:
-
https://[MyDomain].my.salesforce.com -
https://na123.salesforce.com -
https://[MyDomain]--[SandboxName].cs45.visual.force.com
Example of new format: -
https://[MyDomain]--[SandboxName].sandbox.my.salesforce.com

What Actually Changed?
Previously, Salesforce supported legacy URL formats and automatically redirected them to the correct domain.
That redirect layer is now removed.
If any integration, email template, embedded page, or external system still references an old domain format — it will fail instead of redirecting.
The result:
- 404 errors
- Invalid endpoint errors
- Silent integration failures
How This Impacts Your Business
This isn’t just technical — it directly affects day-to-day operations.
🔹 Recruitment & Job Posting Issues
If your career portal, job board, or recruitment system pushes data using old endpoints:
- Applications may not sync
- Job records may not be created
- Webhooks may fail silently
From the business side, it looks like hiring has slowed — but the root cause could be domain misalignment.
🔹 Third-Party & Messaging Disruptions
Tools like marketing platforms, payment gateways or middleware rely on callback URLs.
If those URLs are outdated:
- Message status updates fail
- Automation workflows break
- Data mismatches occur
- Reporting becomes inconsistent
🔹 Broken Links & Embedded Components
We frequently see issues in:
- Email templates
- Hard-coded Apex/JavaScript links
- Visualforce pages
- Embedded applications
- Old bookmarks
Users simply encounter 404 pages.
Why Salesforce Made This Change
Enhanced Domains improve:
- 🔐 Security (fewer redirect vulnerabilities)
- ⚡ Performance (removing redirect latency)
- 🏗 Long-term scalability and browser compatibility
It’s a necessary modernization — but it requires proper validation.
